GOVERNMENT SANSKRIT COLLEGE,
NAHAN (GSC NAHAN) |
The emblem of the Gorakshnath Government Sanskrit College, Nahan (GSC Nahan) features an image of Goddess Saraswati placed within red circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college in Devanagari and motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ (Rishi Parāśara, 1,19.41, Viṣṇu Purāṇa), which translates to ‘Knowledge is the One That Liberates’. Goddess Saraswati is the God of wisdom, knowledge, arts and learning. Her presence represents the supreme pursuit of academic and spiritual truth. The veena symbolises the harmony of life, speech and the cosmic sound (Nada Brahma) of creation. It represents the fine arts and the expression of knowledge. The lotus seat symbolises purity, true knowledge and transcendence over mundane attachments. The book held in her lower right hand represents the Vedas, scripture and formal academic knowledge. The peacock acts as her mount (Vahana), symbolising beauty, grace and the dance of the soul in joy upon acquiring wisdom.
