NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SOWA RIGPA The circular seal of National Institute of Sowa Rigpa (NISR) has a blue colour vase of flowers referring to purity, impermanence, cycles of life, serenity and peace is placed on a circle divided into white, blue, yellow, green and red pies representing the scope, variety and nature of illnesses and cure. A motif of a laboratory flask is placed above the vase. The circle is ensconced by a cyan circular border on which the name of the Institute is written in Tibetan, Devanagari and English.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HOMOEOPATHY The green colour circular emblem of National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH) has an inverted equilateral triangle housing the motifs of Staff of Hermes crested by a lotus with the words ‘Aude Sapere’, with the borders of the triangle bearing the Latin words ‘Similia Similibus Curantur’ meaning ‘Like is Cured by Like’. The triangle is superimposed by a circular border on which the name of the Institute is inscribed. Below the circle, on a banner its motto in Sanskrit ‘शरीरमाध्यं खलु धर्मसाधनम्’ taken from the dramatic poem called Kumarasambhavam by Mahakavi Kalidasa. It means a ‘Healthy body is the means of Fulfilment of Dharma that is duty’. The Staff of Hermes refers to medicine and medical profession and the lotus refers to purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty.

These are supported by a mortar and pestle referring to the unani medicine. All these are placed inside a white square which is further held by a diagonally placed square in yellow, red, cyan and black. These colours refer to the scope, nature and variety of beneficiaries and cure for illnesses. The motifs are supported by a pair of green laurels denoting ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication. At the bottom, on a banner its acronym is written.
