The emblem of Bhargava College, Samba (BDC Samba) features an open book supporting lotus and a glowing traditional lamp supported on sides by a pair of scrolls. These are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college and its place. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘विद्या ददाति विनयम्’ (Narayan Pandit, 6, Hitopadesha), which translates to ‘Education Makes one Humble’ is inscribed on a banner placed below the seal. The book serves as the literal and metaphorical foundation of formal education, academic rigour and continuous learning; the lotus symbolises purity, spiritual growth and overcoming obstacles and it highlights that true learning thrives even amidst worldly challenges; the lamp stands for enlightenment, wisdom, and the removal of ignorance and represents the spread of knowledge radiating outward to society; and the scrolls represent traditional scholarship, preservation of heritage and ancient wisdom passing through generations.
