The yellow, red and black emblem of Government Degree College, Sumbal (GDC Sumbal) features a crescent moon with a glowing star ensconced by a yellow ribbon inscribed with the Arabic text ‘مِّنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ’, which translates to ‘From Darkness Unto Light’ and Urdu text ‘علم و آگاہی’, which means ‘Knowledge and Awareness’. Below this on a banner, the name of the college is written. The crescent moon is a symbol of growth, progress and the dawn of a new era in Islam; and the six-pointed star represents a guiding beacon of excellence, truth and destination in Islam.

UTTARANCHAL UNIVERSITY Uttaranchal University has come a long way since its inception in 2013 providing world class multidisciplinary education. The university's mission is to inculcate the essence of the Sanskrit Shloka ‘पदं हि सर्वत्र गुणैर्निधीयते’ meaning ‘Good Qualities Put their Footprints Everywhere’. The logo of the university has a blue and green abstract pictorial of ‘U’ and on its right a wordmark of its name in capitals thin serif letters with smooth transition of strokes.
