The predominantly green and blue emblem of Government Degree College, Tangdhar (GDC Tangdhar) features an oval with a landscape of mountains, a river, a pine tree, a yellow rising sun and a soaring eagle along with an open book with a pen inscribed with an Arabic text. The motto of the college in Arabic ‘اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ ۝ الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ’(Quranic verse from Surah Al-Alaq (Verses 1-4)), which translates to ‘Read! And Your Lord is the Most Generous. Who Taught by the Pen.’. The central backdrop represents the scenic and mountainous topography of the Karnah Valley and the surrounding Trans-Himalayan peaks. The water feature symbolises the local streams flowing through the region. The prominent tree represents the rich natural flora of Jammu and Kashmir. The sun symbolises the dawn of knowledge, enlightenment and the dispelling of ignorance through education. The book serves as a global symbol of lifelong learning, academic scholarship and the pursuit of truth. The quill pen represents the primary tool of learning, writing and intellectual advancement. The soaring eagle represents high aspirations, freedom and vision.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The Tirumala Venkateswara Temple is the most visited religious center in the world. It is also involved in various social, religious, literary and educational activities. TTD is headquartered at Tirupati and employs about 16,000 people. The emblem of TTD has Lord Balaji in red colour crested with the golden Vimanam of the temple.
