The emblem of Government Degree College, Kargil (GDC Kargil) features an open book supporting a rising sun and a fountain pen surmounted by the Arabic text ‘مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ’, which translates to ‘From Darkness to Light’ and a pencil and the name of the college. The motto of the college ‘From Darkness to Light’ is written on a banner placed below the seal. The classic metallic fountain pen nib represents intellectual refinement, literary expression and creative writing; the sharp pencil tip symbolises technical precision, foundational learning and design; the book is the global symbol for accessible knowledge, formal scholarship and structured education; the bright orange sun represents enlightenment, intellectual awakening and the dawn of knowledge.
