The emblem of Government Degree College, Leh (GDC Leh) features the Himalayan peaks of Kargil, which reflects the geography of Khaltse and the Ladakh region, a pair of laurels, a banner with the year of inception of the college, a shield housing the motifs of a mortarboard hat, a torch with flames, and an open book and the motto of the college ‘Crafting Excellence’. These elements are ensconced by a circular border with red outlines inscribed with the name and place of the college. The mortarboard hat or graduation cap represents academic success, higher scholarship, formal graduation and the ultimate reward of a student's hard work; the torch with flame symbolises enlightenment, the pursuit of truth and the dispelling of the darkness of ignorance through education; the book represents rigorous study, knowledge and structured learning as the foundation of intellectual growth; and the laurels represent victory, peace, academic honour and distinction.
