The emblem of Government Degree College for Women, Sopore (GDCW Sopore) features a yellow oval housing the motifs of a red rose, a terrestrial globe and an open book inscribed with the text ‘To Strive To Make it an Institution of Academic Excellence to Meet The Global Challenges and to Make it a Fortress for Women Emancipation’. These motifs are ensconced by a border inscribed with the name of the college and the Urdu text ‘سبق پھر پڑھ صداقت کا، شجاعت کا، عدالت کا’ by from Allama Iqbal, which translates to ‘Read again the lesson of Truth, of Bravery and of Justice. The tagline of the college ‘Knowledge is Power’ is inscribed on a yellow banner placed at the bottom. The red rose represents youth, beauty and grace, while specifically symbolising the blooming and nurturing of girl students in a positive environment; the earth globe represents a global perspective, modern connection and the aspiration of students to achieve excellence on an international scale; and the book symbolises continuous learning, academic excellence and the acquisition of structured knowledge.
