The seal of Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) is in the form of a decorated pennant with the motif of a Greek Warrior and its motto in Latin ‘Per Ardua ad Astra’ (Selected by Colonel Sykes) meaning ‘Through Struggle to the Stars’. Its name is written below the pennant and the acronym surmounts the motif. The Greek warrior denotes healing, eternity and the valour and the pennant denotes championship and victory.

MAULANA AZAD NATIONAL URDU UNIVERSITY Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 1998. The logo of the university has two strokes of orange and green forming the shape of ‘U’ in tricolour and has a ‘Ashoka Chakra’ at its top. This is supported by an open book on which images of an atom and a burning candle are depicted. The circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a lotus with a background of mountains and surmounted by atomic structure. These are ensconced by a yellow circular border which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ on one side and its name in Kashmiri on the other side.
