PARAMARTH NIKETAN

The oranges and red circular emblem of Paramarth Niketan ashram houses the motifs of one its entrance arches supported by a traditional lamp and its name written on it red. These are ensconced by a circular orange border on which its motto in Sanskrit ‘सर्व भूतहिते रताः’ meaning ‘An Abode Dedicated to the Welfare of All’ are written. The lamp refers to light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNICAL TEACHERS TRAINING AND RESEARCH, KOLKATA NITTTR Kolkata was the first among four such institutes (the other three being at Chandigarh, Bhopal and Chennai) established by the Department of Education, MHRD, Government of India, as fully centrally funded autonomous institutions for providing pre and in-service training to the teachers and staff of Degree and Diploma level training institutions and also for conducting various activities related to quality improvement of the technical education system of the country. Its circular emblem has a lamp in the middle ensconced by a bolt, which forms the centre of a wheel with eight spokes. Wheel symbolises motion and activity. The wheel has its acronym and place written in white on a blue border. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘लोकोहितार्थम् ज्ञानार्जनम्’ meaning ‘Acquiring Knowledge for the Benefit of the World’ is placed below the wheel. The emblem is supported by two pairs of green leaves.

Muzaffarnagar Medical College (MMC) is offering courses in medical science leading to the degree of MBBS. Its emblem is an orange squircle with its acronym ‘Cmm’ as a monogram in white, light blue and violet colours. It is supported by its motto in Sanskrit ‘सर्वाणी स्वास्थ्य मूलम्’ meaning ‘Health is the Root of Everything’. On the top right corner is the Rod of Aesculapius (also called Asklepios), the ancient mythical god of medicine. Asklepios may have been a real person who was renowned for his gentle remedies and humane treatment of the mentally ill.

UNIVERSITY OF HYDERABAD The University of Hyderabad (Hydarāvād visvavidyālayamu) is a top ranking public Central research university located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Founded in 1974, this mostly residential campus has more than five thousand students and four hundred faculty, from several disciplines. It has a red circular emblem supported by a banner. The emblem has motifs of an atom and energy depicted on an open book and nuclear energy and its radiation ensconced in a circle. These are circumscribed by a banner above by its name. At the bottom, on a banner its motto is written Sanskrit. It is quoted from a verse of Vishnu Purana (1.19.41). The motto is ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ meaning ‘Education Leads to Liberation’.

HEMWATI NANDAN BAHUGUNA GARHWAL UNIVERSITY Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University was established as a State University through the U.P. State Government notification dated November 23, 1973. It has a rare distinction of taking birth through a powerful popular movement during the early seventies in the last century. The university was converted to a Central University on January 15, 2009. The green circular emblem of the university has the motifs of the geography of the State - Himalayan mountain range, rivers, a tree and shining sun within a circle. All theses are ensconced in a circular border which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘जीवा ज्योतिर्शिमहि’ meaning  ‘Life Eternal’ and supported on either side by a pair of red lotuses - denoting knowledge and purity and at the bottom half of the border its name in Devanagari is written.

NALANDA UNIVERSITY The establishment of ancient Nalanda as an undisputed seat of learning was a historical consequence of its context. Almost simultaneously, the Singapore government presented the ‘Nalanda Proposal’ to the Government of India suggesting the re-establishment of ancient Nalanda to make it as the focal point of Asia once again. Leaders of sixteen member states of the East Asia Summit (EAS) endorsed the proposal to re- establish Nalanda, when they met in the Philippines in January 2007. At the fourth EA Summit held in October 2009, at Hua Hin, Thailand, more members affirmed the merit of establishing Nalanda University. The project took off, when the Nalanda University Act 2010 was passed in both the Houses of the Indian Parliament. In September 2014, the university opened its doors for the first batch of students. Green stands for vitality and growth and greenery of the region; maroon and yellow ring symbolises existence and dynamism, simplicity and wisdom; golden yellow stands for knowledge, wisdom and prosperity; wheat crown represents the rich agriculture of Jharkhand and banyan tree represents learning, enlightenment and magnificence. The motto of the university in Sanskrit is ‘ज्ञानाद हि बुद्धि कौशलम्’ meaning ‘Knowledge to Wisdom’.

It has a set of books connected by a wire to a mouse; its tagline ‘Free Online Education’ in red colour and the name ‘Swayam’ written in sans serif bold in blue tones - with the counters of ‘a’s are filled with orange and green and its motto in Sanskrit ‘शिक्षित भारत, उन्नत भारत’ meaning ‘Educated India, Advanced India’.
