The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the mountains represent constancy, eternity, firmness, and stillness; the open book represents learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; the facade denotes bridge to heaven from earth; the colour blue symbolises serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty and the colour gold symbolises wealth, prosperity, power, prestige and achievement.

The key initiatives of this project are: i. Developing a National Recipe Archive and ii. Creating standards and benchmarks for: 1. Clean street foods hubs; 2. Regional food festivals and 3. Food trails. Its emblem has a sixteen petalled lotus drawn like a 'rangoli' holding an orange circle having its name written in a Devanagari looking typeface, in which ‘o’s are treated as cut vegetable and tomato and ‘l’ like a stem of cereal. On the border around the circle, its tagline ‘Let’s Bring the Goodness Back!’ is written.
