The emblem of Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Leh (EJM College Leh) features a yellow rising sun, a range of mountains with peaks, the text ‘Leh Ladakh’ and an open book on a blue circle with wavy edges. The circle is ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The seal is placed on a platform inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Knowledge-Integrity-Humility’. The rising sun with radiating beams symbolises the dawn of knowledge and the eradication of ignorance and it represents enlightenment spreading across the region. The mountain peaks with sharp mountain contours, representing the iconic, rugged landscape of Leh Ladakh. The book signifies formal education, academic learning and a commitment to literacy and scholarship.

PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule. ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY Aligarh Muslim University grew out of the work of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. Raja Jai Kishan helped Sir Syed in establishing the university. The British decision to replace the use of Persian in 1842 for government employment and as the language of Courts of Law caused deep anxiety among Muslims of the sub-continent. His purpose for the establishment of the Scientific Society in 1864, in Aligarh. Sir Syed's son, Syed Mahmood, who was an alumnus of Cambridge prepared a proposal for an independent university to the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College Fund Committee upon his return from England in 1872. Syed Mahmood continued to work along with his father in founding the college. By 1920 the college was transformed into the Aligarh Muslim University.
