The emblem of Government Degree College, Drass (GDC Drass) features a blue circle with green and yellow peaks of mountains of Himalayan landscape of Drass with five stars placed on the left. A brown banner placed below the mountains is inscribed with the name and place of the college. The year  of establishment of the college and its motto in Arabic ‘وَقُلْ رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا’ (Surah Taha, Quran), which translates to ‘And Say, My Lord, Increase Me in Knowledge’. The arc of five stars represents excellence, growth and the aspirations of the student community.

PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule. ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY Aligarh Muslim University grew out of the work of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. Raja Jai Kishan helped Sir Syed in establishing the university. The British decision to replace the use of Persian in 1842 for government employment and as the language of Courts of Law caused deep anxiety among Muslims of the sub-continent. His purpose for the establishment of the Scientific Society in 1864, in Aligarh. Sir Syed's son, Syed Mahmood, who was an alumnus of Cambridge prepared a proposal for an independent university to the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College Fund Committee upon his return from England in 1872. Syed Mahmood continued to work along with his father in founding the college. By 1920 the college was transformed into the Aligarh Muslim University.
