The emblem of Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has a ship on water in orange and green referring to National Tricolours surmounted by its name in Devanagari and circumscribed by a gold circle. These are ensconced by a circular border in cyan with a gold outline inscribed with its name and place separated by a helm and an anchor. The circle is supported by a pair of laurels on sides and by a sailor’s knot at the bottom. Below these, on a yellow banner, its motto in Sanskrit ‘सागराः सुपन्थानः सन्तु’ meaning ‘Let The Seas Be Good Paths’ is written. The laurels refer to ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
