The emblem of Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has a ship on water in orange and green referring to National Tricolours surmounted by its name in Devanagari and circumscribed by a gold circle. These are ensconced by a circular border in cyan with a gold outline inscribed with its name and place separated by a helm and an anchor. The circle is supported by a pair of laurels on sides and by a sailor’s knot at the bottom. Below these, on a yellow banner, its motto in Sanskrit ‘सागराः सुपन्थानः सन्तु’ meaning ‘Let The Seas Be Good Paths’ is written. The laurels refer to ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

MUSHIKA According to the Ganesha Purana, Ganesha's mouse, originally a celestial musician named Krauncha, accidentally insulted Muni Vamadeva at Lord Indra’s  darbar and was cursed to become a mouse. But Krauncha was as big as a mountain and he damaged the Ashram of Sage Parâshara.
