INDO TIBETAN BORDER POLICE
Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was conceived on October 24, 1962. It is deployed on border guarding duties from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh covering 3488 kilometre of India-China Border and manning border outposts on altitudes ranging from 9000 feet to 18500 feet in the western, middle and eastern sector of the India-China border. It is basically a mountain trained force and most of the officers and men are professionally trained mountaineers and skiers. The crest of the force epitomizes the force motto ‘Shaurya Drindhdta Karamnishta’ has Ashoka and Chakra on top with two rifles. It inspires men to put duty before self. The coat of arms of the ITBP shows the Ashoka Chakra in green superimposed by two golden rifles crossing each other. The arms are crested with Ashoka Lion Capital - the India’s national emblem.
