DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
The Marine Export Products Development Authority (MEPDA) was set up as a Statutory Body in 1972 under an Act of Parliament (No.13 of 1972).  The Authority, with its headquarters at Kochi and field offices in all the maritime States of India, is headed by a Chairperson. The Authority is responsible for development of the marine industry with special focus on marine exports. It is also empowered to carry out inspection of marine products, its raw material, fixing standards, specifications, and training as well as take all necessary steps for marketing the seafood overseas. Its indigo coloured logo has a sailing ship inside a globe encircled by the name of the organisation in Devanagari and English. At the bottom are prawn and fish – the major marine exports are depicted.
