INDIAN RUPEE
The Indian currency is called the Indian Rupee (INR). One Rupee consists of 100 Paise. The symbol of the Indian Rupee is ₹. The design resembles both the Devanagari letter ‘₹’ (ra) and the Latin capital letter ‘R’, with a double horizontal line at the top. The Indian rupee sign is the currency symbol for the Indian rupee (ISO 4217 INR), the official currency of India. Designed by D. Udaya Kumar, it was presented to the public by the Government of India on July 15, 2010, following its selection through an open competition among Indian residents. The Unicode code point for the Indian rupee sign is U+20B9 '₹' Indian Rupee sign.
