The emblem of Supreme Court of India (SCI) has Sarnath Lion on a pedestal upholding Dharmachakra which is supported by a slogan on a banner. Its design is reproduced from the wheel that appears on the abacus of the Sarnath Lion capital of Ashoka with 32 spokes. The inscription at the bottom in a white banner in Sanskrit ‘यतो धर्मस्ततो जयः’ (13.153.39, Mahabharata) means - ‘Where is Righteousness, There is Victory’. It is also referred to - as the wheel of righteousness, encompassing truth, goodness and equity.
