The circular emblem of National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has a staff with trident atop entwined by a pair of serpents and supported by an open book is ensconced in a blue circle. This has a white border with blue outline which bears the name of the institution in English and Devanagari. The staff symbolises represents the three aspects of consciousness - waking, dreaming and sleeping and it means the three gunas - satva, rajas and tamas; the serpents and the staff refers to medical education, profession and medicine; the open book denotes knowledge, examination, wisdom and learning and the colour blue symbolises serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.
