SOMNATH FESTIVAL

The logo of Somnath Festival has a ‘Trishul’ or trident placed on an orange background supported by a pair of hands. Its name is written below the motif and its tagline in Sanskrit ‘कला द्वारा आराधना’ meaning ‘Worship Through Art’ is placed at the bottom. The Trishul is surmounted by an outline depicting Shiv Ling referring to the presiding deity of the Somanath Temple and supporting hands refer to the protection and reverence to the deity and his arm. The Trishul refers to The Trishul is the symbol of good overcoming evil and in the hands of the peacock articulates gentleness with the strength of character to use, if necessary, force for its freedom. The three prongs of the trident are a symbolic representation of our culture illustrating the potential of creation, protection and destruction inherent in the forces of power and expressed in Hindu philosophy which is reflected time and again in the saga of mankind.
