The sun and the moon refer to the service of the Institute all through the day and night; the four cylinders refer to four colour cylinders for printing and the gear wheel refer to interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure.

At the bottom, a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘‘கற்றனைத் தூறும் அறிவு’ (Thiruvalluvar, 396, Thirukkural) meaning ‘Knowledge Grows As Much As One Learns’ is inscribed is placed on the seal. Athiyaman and Avvaiyar refer to history and heritage; the book, sun and the humans refer to education and educational achievement; the tree refers to nature, sustenance and growth; the computer refers to technology; and the dam refers to the local landmark.
