AMUL
Amul began when milk became a symbol of protest. It was founded in 1946 to stop exploitation by middlemen and inspired by the freedom movement and advised by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Thus began the cooperative, the Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd. Dr. Verghese Kurien took charge from 1950 and he was the first head of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). AMUL is derived from Sanskrit ‘Amoolya’ meaning invaluable. This is developed from Old English Text typeface and has stood the test of time and is fondly remembered by consumers. The logo is in red colour.
