The flower-spread represents growth, healing, vitality and renewal, framing the nursing profession as one that nurtures life and helps individuals flourish back to health. The enclosing hands are a universal symbol of care, protection, support and nursing intervention; the three human figures or lifespan continuum symbolise that nursing is an all-encompassing discipline dedicated to the health and well-being of humanity across the entire lifespan—from infancy to old age. The maroon or deep red colour represents vitality, life-giving blood, deep compassion, courage and urgent dedication to relieving human suffering.
