The emblem of Government Degree College, Ramgarh (GDC Ramgarh) features a shield held by a pair of hands,  housing the motifs of a globe and a pencil. The shield is surmounted by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘विद्या ददाति विनयं, विनयाद् याति पात्रताम्।’ (Narayana Pandit, Hitopadehsa), which translates to ‘Knowledge Gives Humility, From Humility Comes Worthiness’. These are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college and its year of establishment. A pair of green laurels support the circle. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the globe denotes education, knowledge, influence, timelessness, global unity and interconnectedness; the pencil pointing upward symbolises the pursuit of literacy, critical thinking, academic growth and the power of the written word the two supporting hands cradle represent support, nurturing, community responsibility and the gentle transmission of knowledge from educators to students; and the laurel wreaths have served as a universal symbol of triumph, honor, academic excellence and achievement.

COTTON UNIVERSITY Cotton University (CU) was formerly known as Cotton College, the institute was established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam. It became a constituent college of Gauhati University in 1948. In 2011 the Cotton College State University was established vide an Act of the Government of Assam, with the college as a constituent. Cotton University came into being in 2017 through The Cotton University Act, 2017 that enabled the unification of Cotton College State University and Cotton College. PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule.
