The emblem of Government Degree College, Ukhral (GDC Ukhral) features a circle housing the motifs of mountain range with peaks, flowing river, evergreen pine trees and orange rising sun with radiating rays supported by a flaming torch placed above an open book and the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘कर्म ज्यायो ह्यकर्मणः’ (Verse 8, Chapter 3, Bhagavad Gita), which translates to ‘Action is Better than Inaction’. An angel-like winged figure is placed over the sun. The circle is ensconced by a dark blue circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college and its year of establishment. The snow-capped mountains and river capture the actual physical topography of the Pogal Paristan (Ukhral) region; the evergreen pine trees flanking the landscape symbolise resilience, endurance and steady growth amidst harsh conditions; and the sun symbolises the dawn of a new era, hope and the removal of the darkness of ignorance through the light of literacy. The winged silhouette of an angelic or winged human figure symbolises high aspirations, the flight of ambition, freedom of thought and reaching one's full intellectual potential. The lamp represents enlightenment, wisdom and active learning; and the book represents the repository of knowledge, while the flame signifies sharing that knowledge to guide the local youth.

COTTON UNIVERSITY Cotton University (CU) was formerly known as Cotton College, the institute was established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam. It became a constituent college of Gauhati University in 1948. In 2011 the Cotton College State University was established vide an Act of the Government of Assam, with the college as a constituent. Cotton University came into being in 2017 through The Cotton University Act, 2017 that enabled the unification of Cotton College State University and Cotton College. PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule.
