The emblem of Government Degree College, Marh (GDC Marh) features a circle with yellow outline housing the motif of a nib of a pen inscribed with the motifs of an open book, a lush green tree of leaves, and a set of three abstract human figures. The tagline of the college ‘Skill Up’ is written on a cyan banner placed over the nib. Below the nib, the motto of the college ‘Learn and Develop’ is written. The circle is ensconced by a circular border with a red outline inscribed with the name of the college and its date of establishment. The nib of a pen symbolises freedom, intelligence, creativity, professionalism, determination and diligence; the tree represents growth, vitality and the nurturing of potential; the abstract human figures represent the stakeholders of the college, namely students, faculty and the management; the open book is a universal symbol of knowledge, academic learning, and accessibility to education; and the concentric red and yellow rings represent unity, inclusion and the continuous journey of education.

COTTON UNIVERSITY Cotton University (CU) was formerly known as Cotton College, the institute was established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam. It became a constituent college of Gauhati University in 1948. In 2011 the Cotton College State University was established vide an Act of the Government of Assam, with the college as a constituent. Cotton University came into being in 2017 through The Cotton University Act, 2017 that enabled the unification of Cotton College State University and Cotton College. PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule.
