The emblem of University Institute of Information Technology, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla (UIIT HPU Shimla) features a gearwheel housing the motifs of a snowclad mountain range, green mountains, a waterbody, a cogwheel, an USB port icon, an open book, and a pair of patterns of  constellation with nodes. The gearwheel is ensconced by a circle. The name of the college in Devanagari and English and its motto in Sanskrit ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ (Verse 50, Chapter 2, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Yoga is Skill in Action’ are written around the circle. The gearwheel and the cogwheel represent core engineering, industriousness and the practical application of technology; the mountain ranges and the blue sky reflect the beautiful, serene environment of the Summer Hill campus in Shimla and the broader mountain geography of Himachal Pradesh; the USB port icon and the constellation of nodes represent digital data nodes, networks and computer science circuitry, highlighting the institute's specialised focus; the book  a universal symbol of knowledge, education and learning; and the water represents the local rivers and water resources flowing through the state, emphasising life, continuity and regional roots.
