The emblem of Government Degree College, Darhal (GDC Darhal) features a shield with blue outlines inscribed with the Arabic inscription ‘رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا’ (Surah Taha 20:114, Quran), which translates to the English text ‘O Lord, Increase My Knowledge’ placed right below it and three red stars. The shield is supported by a green banner inscribed with the text ‘Estd. 2019’ in the middle and a pair of blue laurels at the bottom. The name of the college surmounts the shield. The shield represents protection, honour and a strong foundation; the three red stars symbolise excellence, aspiration and high achievements; and the laurels are classic symbols of victory, honour, and academic accomplishment dating back to antiquity. The colour blue conveys trust, stability, depth and intelligence—traits closely tied to higher learning environments; green stands for growth, renewal, harmony, and carries cultural significance as a symbol of peace and prosperity; and white symbolises purity, truth, and an open mind ready to acquire new insights.

COTTON UNIVERSITY Cotton University (CU) was formerly known as Cotton College, the institute was established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam. It became a constituent college of Gauhati University in 1948. In 2011 the Cotton College State University was established vide an Act of the Government of Assam, with the college as a constituent. Cotton University came into being in 2017 through The Cotton University Act, 2017 that enabled the unification of Cotton College State University and Cotton College. PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule.
