(Sampada Bank) has a motif of Goddess Lakshmi sitting on lotus and showering blessings and wealth placed in a circle and ensconced by a circular border inscribed with its name and motto in Sanskrit ‘कराग्रे वसते लक्ष्मी’ meaning ‘Lakshmi Resides at the Tip of the Hand’. Goddess Lakshmi symbolises good fortune and beauty, abundance, prosperity, wealth and harmony and is believed to relieve all sorrows caused by the dearth of money.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written.
