Its slogan is 'Independence, Democracy, Socialism'. Its symbol is “a red five cornered star in the top left corner, on a white background and Independence, Democracy and Socialism written one beneath the other also in red.

The mountains and river refer to the local topography of snow-capped peaks of the Himalayan mountain ranges; the lightning bolt symbiosis raw energy, power, enlightenment, and the sparking of knowledge; and the laurels represent a traditional laurel wreath, which symbolises academic triumph, victory and the pursuit of honour.
