The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is admirably positioned as the closest Public Sector Undertaking of the Ministry of Railways, which serves multitude of passengers availing rail and allied passenger services, including rail catering and hospitality, rail and non rail based tourism and rail ticketing services on the internet. IRCTC also handles the catering, tourism and online ticketing operations of the Indian Railways. Its tagline is ‘Lifeline of the Nation’. The IRCTC blue and grey logo depicts pan India connectivity of railway networks.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
