The emblem of The Maharaja Institute of Advanced Computing and Research (MIACR) features a blue sprocket wheel inscribed with the name of the college. It houses the motifs of two gearwheels, a mortarboard hat, four spanners and three stars. On a red banner, at the bottom, the name of the place of the college is inscribed. The gear wheels and the spanners refer to engineering and technology; the sprocket wheel symbolises precision, kinetic energy, industrial power, and interconnection; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; and the three stars represent balance, divine alignment and progression.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
