The emblem of St. Xavier's College of Management & Technology, Patna (SXCMT) features a shield inscribed with the motif of a red shield containing a crown and a crescent moon, the coat of arms belonging to the noble family of the college's patron, St. Francis Xavier. The Sun with "IHS": Located at the heart of the emblem, the sun containing the letters IHS (the first three letters for Jesus in Greek) is the symbol of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), who run the institution. The background features local landmarks, including the river Ganga and a bridge, symbolising the college's role in building bridges of understanding within its community. On the banners placed above and below the shield, the name and place of the college and its motto are inscribed respectively. The motto in Sanskrit ‘प्रवाहितो ज्ञानगंगाप्रवाहः’meaning ‘May the Ganges of Knowledge Flow Uninterruptedly’.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
