The blue and gray emblem of Padmashree Krutartha Acharya College of Engineering (PKACE) features a light bulb, a partial gearwheel and an electronics circuit placed on a circle and ensconced by a blue and white circular border inscribed with the name of the managing body of the college. The colour blue symbolises serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty; the grey represents strength, longevity, unemotional, detached, balanced and impartial, power, influence, wisdom and intelligence; the light bulb symbolises a sudden flash of inspiration, innovation, and intellectual clarity; and the gearwheel and circuit refer to engineering and technology.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
