The cyan and gold shield-shaped emblem of Oxford College of Engineering and Management (OCEM) (Oxford College) houses a hexagram inscribed with the motifs of an open book, a computer, a traditional lamp, a pair of cutlery, a hand holding a computer mouse, a wave and a hammer. The hexagram is supported by a pair of laurels and surmounted by a rectangular outline. The name of the college and its year of inception are written around the motifs. The shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery. The hexagram The hexagram -a six-pointed star formed by two interlocking triangles - is an ancient archetypal symbol representing the union of opposites. The upward triangle signifies fire and masculine energy; the downward triangle signifies water and feminine energy. The lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; and the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of engineering.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. WESTERN AIR COMMAND The origin of the Western Air Command can be traced back to the nascent years of independent India, when the various formations of the Air Force were organised into two groups. On July 22, 1949 the No 1 Operational Group was re-designated as the Operational Command. The Command assumed its present name of Headquarters Western Air Command on June 10, 1963. Headquarters Western Air Command, located at Subroto Park, New Delhi, has over 200 bases placed under its command and has been involved in all major operations in India since independence. Due to its geographical location the Command has always been the hub-centre of all operational activities during any operation.
