KALINGA INSTITUTE OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) was established in 1992 as a vocational training centre with two staff and twelve students. KIIT owes its existence to the vision of its founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta. The green colour emblem of the institute has a bottom half of a gear wheel supporting the acronym ‘KIIT’ of its name in which the two ‘i’s depicting two humans. The gear wheel symbolises interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure. The colour green symbolises agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.

The soaring eagle signifies vision, academic ambition, courage and soaring to intellectual heights; the shield is a traditional symbol of defense and preservation. It indicates the college's responsibility to protect knowledge, cultural values and the future of its students; and the chinar leaf represents the natural heritage, peace and iconic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
