The Indian Army fields thirteen Corps. 1 Corps is a military field formation of the Indian Army, created in 1965. It was still being raised when it was despatched to the front in 1965. Today it is a 'Strike Corps' within the Indian Army's Central Command, headquartered at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. It consists of 23rd Artillery Brigade, 627 (I) Mechanised Air Defence Brigade, Engineer brigade, 4th Infantry Division (HQ Allahabad), 6th Mountain Division (Bareilly) and 33rd Armoured Division (Hissar). The sleeve patch of this Corps is red horizontal striped patch intersected with a white stripe with Roman letter ‘I’ inside a black circle.
