DARSHAN UNIVERSITY

The red and black emblem of Darshan University (DU) has an U-shaped shield housing the monogram of ‘DU’ and three stripes cut through its left top edge. Below the shield its motto in Sanskrit ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ (Verse 50, Chapter 2, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Yoga is Skill in Action’ is written. At the right the name of the university is written in sanserif bold and thin typeface in black. The shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery and the colour red denotes passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration.

It is supported by its motto in Sanskrit ‘सर्वाणी स्वास्थ्य मूलम्’ meaning ‘Health is the Root of Everything’. On the top right corner is the Rod of Aesculapius (also called Asklepios), the ancient mythical god of medicine. Asklepios may have been a real person who was renowned for his gentle remedies and humane treatment of the mentally ill.

No. 15 Squadron NO 15 SQUADRON The No. 15 Squadron of Indian Air Force was formed on August 2, 1951 at Ambala. In 1983, the ‘Flying Lances’ were the first MiG-21 Bis squadron in the Air Force to be modified for the Matra Magic R55, air to air missiles. The squadron was again number plated in 2009 and re-raised in 2012 on the Su-30 at Sirsa AFS. The No. 15 Squadron’s motto is ‘Nihantavya Shatava’ meaning ‘Annihilate the Enemy’. This Squadron is also called ‘Flying Lances’. Its insignia has a flying lancer in the centre with a ball of fire background. It currently operates the Mikoyan MiG-21 from Jodhpur.

KONGUNADU COLLEGE OF NURSING Kongunadu College of Nursing (KCN)was founded by Dr.P.Raju and is run by Kongunattu Arakattalai. The college is located near Coimbatore city on Thondamuthur Main Road. The emblem of the college has the motifs of a traditional lamp supported by a red cross at the bottom and a pair of blue lions on the sides. These are placed above the acronym of its name. All theses are ensconced in a yellow circular border which bears the name and place of the college. Below this on a border its motto 'Knowledge is Power’ is written. The traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity and laurels signify victory, accomplishment, honour, recognition, immortality, peace and harmony. A pair of lions signifies courage, confidence and pride and the red cross symbolises a symbol of protection and a sign that help is at hand.
