The glowing sun like emblem of Shaheed Mahendra Karma Vishwavidyalaya (SMKV) has three motifs representing the local tribal culture of the State of Chhattisgarh ensconced by a blue circular border with red outlines, n which its name is inscribed in Devanagari and English. Its slogan ‘Preserve HumanValues’ is inscribed atop the border. On a blue banner placed below the circular seal its motto in Sanskrit ‘उतिष्टत जाग्रत प्राप्यवरान् निवोधत (Mantra 14, Valli 3, Chapter 1, Kathopanishad - part of the dialogue between Yama and Nachiketa)  meaning ‘Get up, Wake up and Listen to the Boons you have Received’ is inscribed.
