The blue colour emblem of Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) has ‘G’ housing a two-pan beam balance with a backdrop of sun supported by its acronym and an open book. The motif is surmounted by its motto in Sanskrit ‘आनो भद्राः क्रतवो यन्तु विश्वतः’ (Sukta 89, Mandal-1, Rig Veda) meaning ‘I Pray that Virtuous Ideas will come to me from Every Direction’. At the bottom its name is written. The beam balance scales symbolise the scales are the traditional symbols of justice as wielded by statues of Lady Justice and the supporting hands signify the support for justice, healing and life; the sun symbolises life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the open book symbolises knowledge, education, wisdom and learning and the colour blue signifies serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.
