The emblem of Lok Jagruti Kendra University (LJKU) is a blue shield with a yellow outline. The shield houses a globe on which its acronym ‘LJ’ is written. Below the globe there are four stars and above the globe two stars are placed. The shield is supported by a banner which carries the name of the university. The shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the globe symbolises education, knowledge, influence, timelessness, global unity and interconnectedness; the stars denote perfect harmony among all things in life, with its points providing insight into how we can strive towards achieving this goal and the colour blue represents serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
