Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) has been established by GERMI as a Private University through the State Act enacted on April 4, 2007. Its yellow ochre tone emblem has a blueopen book with an orange flame placed inside a glowing sun on a shield. The shield is created with a pair of leaves on top and surrounded by its name written in red. At the bottom its motto ‘A Reservoir of Knowledge’ is written.

At the bottom, a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘‘கற்றனைத் தூறும் அறிவு’ (Thiruvalluvar, 396, Thirukkural) meaning ‘Knowledge Grows As Much As One Learns’ is inscribed is placed on the seal. Athiyaman and Avvaiyar refer to history and heritage; the book, sun and the humans refer to education and educational achievement; the tree refers to nature, sustenance and growth; the computer refers to technology; and the dam refers to the local landmark.
