Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (erstwhile Central Board of Excise & Customs) is a part of the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. It deals with the tasks of formulation of policy concerning levy and collection of Customs, Central Excise duties, Central Goods and Services Tax and IGST, prevention of smuggling and administration of matters relating to customs, central excise, central Goods and Services Tax, IGST and Narcotics to the extent under CBIC's purview. Its emblem is predominantly blue with yellow details, is circular in form and supported by a banner and crested by a star. In the middle the National Emblem is placed surrounded by a yellow circle and a blue border, which has its name in Devanagari and English. The banner has a its motto in Sanskrit, which says ‘देशसेवार्त करसंचय’ meaning ‘Serving Nation through Tax Collection’. The five pointed star is coloured in blue and yellow.
