THE ENGLISH AND FOREIGN LANGUAGES UNIVERSITY |
The English and Foreign Languages University (TEFLU), Hyderabad, was founded in 1958 as the Central Institute of English (CIE). It was renamed the Central Institute of Foreign Languages (CIEFL) in 1972. In 1973, CIEFL was awarded the status of a deemed university. In 2006-2007, CIEFL was given Central University status by an Act of Parliament and accordingly renamed The English and Foreign Languages University. Its circular emblem with a globe of the world with longitudes and latitudes in black is superimposed by its acronym ‘EFL’ as bordered sans serif capital letters in brown. It has its motto in Sanskrit ‘सर्वं शब्देन भासते’ on top and ‘Words Illuminate the World’ at the bottom.
