West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) is a company owned by the Government of West Bengal with the goal to carry on interalia the business of electric power generation and supply in the state of West Bengal, India. The thermal power plants under WBPDCL are in Kolaghat, Bakreswar, Sagardighi, Santaldih and Bandel. WBPDCL Formed in July 1985 with only one generating unit at Kolaghat. Its emblem has a monogram with its acronym depicted as a thermal power plant with chimney with smoke, icon for nuclear reaction, turbine of hydro power plant, waterbody and a stroke of lightning. All these are ensconced in a circular border, on which the name is written.

Below the lotus, on a yellow banner, its motto is written in Tamil and English. The lotus symbolises  purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty and the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.
