The circular seal of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) has has an open book housed in a gear wheel supported by a two pan beam balance at the bottom and a cattle on the left and a microscope on the right, Staff of Caduceus with a serpent below, surmounted by a plough and its year of establishment at the bottom. All these motifs are ensconced by a light border bearing its name and place in English and a light yellow border with its name and place in Devanagari and supported by a pair of crests of cereal. The motifs represent agriculture and agricultural technology and the colour green denotes agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.

PARAVANI The Paravani, Mayil, Mayura or the peacock is the vahana or vehicle of the Lord Karthikeya, Murugan, Subrahmanya, Skanda, Kumara, Saravana, Arumukha, Devasenapati, Shanmukha, Kathirvela, Guha or Swaminatha. The legend has it that the demon king Surapadman, with the boon he received from the gods had become invincible. He believed that he was immortal and began tormenting all across the universe. Lord Kartikeya confronted the Surapadman and he evaded the Lord’s attacks. The demon transformed himself into a large tree near Tiruchendur. Lord Kartikeya using his Vel, the divine spear struck the tree and split Surapadman into two halves. The demon sought forgiveness from the Lord and transformed the halves into Mayil or peacock and a rooster.
