HIDAYATULLAH NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY

The blue colour circular insignia of Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) has a two pan beam balance scales supporting an open book supported by a pair of laurels, the name of its place and its motto in Sanskrit ‘धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय’ (Shloka 8, Chapter 4, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘For the Establishment of Righteousness’. These are ensconced by a blue circular border, on which its name is inscribed. The outer borderline of the circle is decorated with the motifs of flower petals. The two pan beam balance scales are the traditional symbols of justice as wielded by statues of Lady Justice and the supporting hands signify the support for justice, healing and life; the open book denotes knowledge, learning, wisdom and education; the laurels denote ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication and the colour blue symbolises serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

Falcon, the mascot of RGPV, holding a scroll of a diploma certificate in its beak, portrays the engineers graduating from RGPV, with their infinite capabilities and specialised skills. The falcon holding a pen in one of its claws, symbolises the power of expression. Its armour is the manifestation of modern technology. The paddy grasped by the other claw represents the productivity and consequent prosperity resulting from the efforts of the graduates in their profession. UNIVERSITY OF JAMMU The University of Jammu (UoJ) came into existence in 1969 through the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969 following bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir. The circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a lotus with a background of mountains and surmounted by atomic structure. These are ensconced by a yellow circular border which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ on one side and its name in Kashmiri on the other side. The name of the university is written on A banner at the bottom. The open book denotes education, knowledge and wisdom; the lotus symbolises purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the mountains represent the Himalayan Mountains and the atomic structure denotes science and science education.

SANT GAHIRA GURU VISHWAVIDYALAYA The circular emblem of Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya (SGCG), formerly known a s Sarguja University has a circular border in orange and green and has its name, place and motto inscribed in Devanagari and supported by a pair of tribal ornaments. The motto is written in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’. Inside the border, motifs of a drum, supported by a pair of horns; an open book topped by a red sun ; a banyan tree and a pair of crests of millets are placed.
