The white circular border with blue outlines carries the name in English and motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञानं लब्ध्वा परां शान्ति’ (Shloka 39, Chapter 4, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Having Attained Knowledge, He Goes Soon to Supreme Peace’.

The circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a lotus with a background of mountains and surmounted by atomic structure. SANT GAHIRA GURU VISHWAVIDYALAYA The circular emblem of Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya (SGCG), formerly known a s Sarguja University has a circular border in orange and green and has its name, place and motto inscribed in Devanagari and supported by a pair of tribal ornaments. The motto is written in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’.
