The emblem of the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (DSVV) has a hand holding a torch supported by multitude of students and teachers placed over a globe of earth, which is ensconced by a sun with glowing rays. These are supported by the motif of Himalayan Mountain range, below which waters of the river flow from the mountains. These are supported by a blue circular border on which its name is written in Devanagari and at the bottom of the waters of the river its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा प्रथमा संस्कृति र्विश्ववारा’ (7.14, Yajurveda) meaning ‘Vedic Culture is Worthy of Everybody’s Choice’ is written. The hand holding the torch symbolises enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; the globe symbolises education, knowledge, influence, timelessness, global unity and interconnectedness; the glowing sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the mountain range and the river waters denote the geography of the region.

RASHTRIYA RIFLES Rashtriya Rifles (RR) was raised as a para-military force as it was envisaged that personnel posted to RR would comprise regular Army volunteers on deputation, ex-servicemen and lateral inductees from various para-military forces and central police organisations. INDIAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE CULTIVATION OF SCIENCE Founded on July 29, 1876 by Dr Mahendra Lal Sircar, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) is the oldest institute in India devoted to the pursuit of fundamental research in the frontier areas of basic sciences. Professor C V Raman worked at IACS during 1907 to 1933, and it is here that he discovered the celebrated effect that bears his name and for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. Activities of the Association at 210 Bowbazar Street, Calcutta, in the very early years were supported by generous public contributions. NITYANANDAPARIVARA TILAK The Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, lacking a central authority since its very inception on account of its dynamic spread, has come to encompass a large diversity of practices and insights within the foundational framework of the Goswami's teachings. Traditional Gaudiya lineages are traced back to the companions of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu via a succession of mantra diksha initiations, otherwise commonly known as the guru-pranali. Nityananda (b 1474 CE), was a Vaishnava saint, famous as a primary religious figure within the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition of Bengal, is presumed to be an avatar of Balarama. Nityananda was Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's friend and disciple. They are often mentioned together as Gaura-Nitai (Gaura, ‘golden one’, referring to Chaitanya, Nitai being a shortened form of Nityananda) or Nimai-Nitai.   The followers of Nityananda are called the Nityananda Parivara and their tilaka sports the Gaudiya tilaka with a dot.
